Frequently Asked Questions
Working Together
-
I work with small and growing businesses across a range of industries, from independent brands and service-based businesses to eCommerce, hospitality and creative businesses. What matters most is understanding what your business needs and building the website or digital setup around that.
-
Start by getting in touch and telling me a little about your business and what you’re looking for. I’ll then send you a short project questionnaire so I can learn more about your business, your customers, what you already have in place and what you’d like the website to achieve.
Once I’ve reviewed that, we’ll arrange a discovery call to talk through the project properly. From there, I’ll recommend the service, platform and approach that make the most sense for your business and outline the next steps.
If you decide to go ahead, I’ll send over the project proposal, contract and deposit invoice to secure your booking.
-
You don’t need to know before you get in touch. I’ll look at what you already have, what your business needs and what you’re trying to achieve, then recommend the option that makes the most sense.
That might be a One-Day Website Refresh, a new Squarespace or Shopify website, QuickLaunch, Brand & Website Design or something more custom.
-
No. You don’t need to have every page, piece of copy or technical requirement worked out before getting in touch.
It helps to have a general idea of what your business offers, who the website is for and what you want people to be able to do on it. Some services require things like branding, copy and imagery to be ready before the project begins, but we can work out what’s needed before then.
-
Yes. A big part of my process is working out what the website needs to do before deciding how it should look or which platform to use.
That might include things like customer journeys, eCommerce, booking or payment systems, CRM integrations, email marketing, analytics or other digital tools. I’ll help you work out what makes sense for your business rather than adding features you don’t need.
Websites & Platforms
-
My services are priced according to the scope and complexity of the project rather than simply the number of pages.
You can view starting prices for my main services on the Packages page, from a One-Day Website Refresh through to full Squarespace, Shopify, brand and custom website projects.
If your project has more complex requirements, I’ll put together a tailored scope and quote after we’ve discussed what you need.
-
For my standard website packages, a 50% deposit is required to secure your project, with the remaining 50% due on completion.
One-Day Website Refreshes are paid in full at booking to secure your dedicated project day. The scope of work will be agreed in advance, so you’ll know exactly what we’re focusing on before the day begins.
For larger custom projects, payment terms will be outlined in your proposal based on the scope and timeline.
-
Timelines depend on the service and complexity of the project. A One-Day Website Refresh is completed within one dedicated working day, while QuickLaunch is designed to get a website live in around two weeks.
Larger Squarespace, Shopify, brand and custom projects take longer because they involve more planning, design, development and testing. You’ll be given a clear timeline before the project begins, along with anything I’ll need from you to keep things moving.
-
The most common delays happen when content, images, feedback, approvals or access to existing accounts aren’t ready when they’re needed. Changes to the agreed scope or delays involving third-party platforms and integrations can also affect the timeline.
Before we begin, I’ll let you know exactly what I need from you and when. Keeping content, feedback and approvals moving on time helps keep the project on schedule
-
Once everything has been tested and approved, I’ll make sure you have the access and information you need to manage your website going forward.
Your domain, website and business accounts remain yours, and I’ll make sure the handover is clear so you’re not left wondering how anything works.
If you need further help after launch, we can discuss what support makes sense for your business.
-
I work primarily with Squarespace, Shopify and WordPress. The right platform depends on your business, what the website needs to do and how you’ll manage it day to day.
I don’t start with a preferred platform and try to make your business fit around it. I’ll recommend the option that makes the most sense for your requirements, budget and plans for the future.
-
Not every website needs to be rebuilt. If the foundations are solid, a One-Day Website Refresh may be enough to improve the design, structure, user experience and overall journey through the site.
If the existing platform, structure or functionality is holding the business back, I’ll explain why a new website may make more sense before recommending a rebuild.
-
Yes. Wherever possible, I build websites so you can manage the everyday parts of the site yourself, such as updating text, images, products or blog content.
I’ll also make sure you understand how your website works before handover, so you’re not dependent on me every time you want to make a small change.
-
Yes. A website often needs to do much more than display information.
Depending on the business, that could include booking and scheduling systems, payments, eCommerce, email marketing, CRM tools, analytics, forms or other third-party integrations. We’ll work out what you actually need during the planning stage rather than adding tools for the sake of it.
-
No. If you already have a domain, website or platform account, we can work with what you have and check that everything is set up correctly.
If you’re starting from scratch, I can recommend the most suitable setup and guide you through purchasing anything you need. Your domain, website accounts and other business assets should remain in your ownership, with access provided to me where required.
